Cloud Accounting

Most Accounting software has now moved to Cloud Accounting. If you have not heard of this expression, the short definition is that it means accessing accounting software and data securely over the internet, rather than your computer’s hard drive.

Over time, software, of all genres, has been moving to online versions for multiple beneficial reasons. Some of these are:

Flexibility, you’re free to work from wherever you want, as long as you have internet access;
Automatic updates, so that you never have to worry about it being out of date;
Secure, as all your data is encrypted before it is sent from your device to the main server;
Multiple users are able to collaborate or assist with your online account;
Real-time information showing a clear overview of your current financial position

We’re lucky, in a way, that we have a choice of a variety to pick from, as not one software is suitable for everyone. Some, as we have found out, are more complex, whilst others are easier to use. Most come with different packages that you can add on, some being VAT, or PAYE. Therefore, if you wanted to add another section to your Cloud based software, you could contact the provider and they will quote you on how much it would cost for the certain add on.

Another benefit to having Cloud Accounting, following on from multiple users, is that each software has an accountant’s portal, which would allow us to arrange set-up, resolve problems, offer on-going support, and carry out overviews of your account.

By making sure we have active accountant’s portals with the most common software providers, we can also use the programmes to submit PAYE and VAT directly through the software to HM Revenue & Customs on your behalf. With the digital world constantly changing, we aim to keep all our clients up to date with any upcoming changes and help them transition over to Cloud Accounting.

At Evans & Co Accountants, we are not linked to just one provider, therefore, we can advise you on the one that is best suited for your needs. Plus, if Cloud Accounting is not right for you, we can offer our support and guidance on desktop based accounting products.

According to Simply Business, the top 3 Accounting Software for Small Businesses are FreeAgent, QuickBooks & Xero. Evans & Co have experience in all those software providers, with the added knowledge of Sage.
